Awards of the U.S.S. BortaS

Spirit of the Bear

This is the highest award issued by the USS BortaS and is awarded rarely. It was adopted from the USS Ursus (now defunct). The purpose of the award is to recognize an individual who displays the attributes of the bear from both European and Native American myth. To quote from the original Ursus Handbook:

"In both cultures, Bear is said to be strong of heart and courage, willing to enter the fray to defend the weak or helpless. Bear is just, fair, and temperate. Bear is resolute, determined, and dependable. Above all, Bear is slow to anger but quick in defense of his own."

Kahless

This is issued to BortaS' Member of the Year. This is the member who, in the judgment of the Awards Committee, best exemplifies the ideals of Star Trek, STARFLEET, and the BortaS.

 

 

 

 
 

Minuteman

This award is presented to BortaS' Volunteer of the Year.

Sol

This award is for our Youth Member of the Year.

Qapla

This award is presented to BortaS' Staff Officer of the Year.

Neutron Star

Awarded for "Service through Exemplary Leadership."

Pulsar

Awarded for determination and diligence to further a Community Service project.

Polaris

Awarded for consistent participation in the events and operations of the BortaS.

Quasar

Awarded to members who provide a very high level of participation and assistance at a single BortaS event or operation.
